Episode 13: Motion Is Lotion: Pilates, Core Strength, and Independence After 60
What does sexy mean in this season of life?
For me, it has less to do with appearance and more to do with steadiness and capability. In this episode, I’m joined by Dana Kramer, a lifelong fitness professional with more than 45 years of experience and certifications through the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Council on Exercise, along with comprehensive Pilates training.
Dana works primarily with beginners, women over 60, and clients rebuilding after injury or surgery. Recently widowed, she shares how movement became structure and orientation during a season of grief and transition.
We talk about what the core really is and why it matters more as we age. We discuss strength training, posture, balance, rheumatoid arthritis, and the importance of consistency over intensity. Dana offers a quieter message than what we often see online. Start with breath. Build gradually. Stay consistent. Stop comparing.
“Fit at my age isn’t about looking fit. It’s about being capable.”
This episode is for any woman recalibrating what “enough” looks like now.
If this conversation resonates, you may also want to revisit two pieces I wrote recently. One explores why walking matters more than ever as we age. The other reflects on what it means to stay vibrant instead of fading quietly into the background. I’ll link both in the notes below.
