The Room Where Women Stop Apologizing
Valerie Mummert designs in-person retreats for women, and she has spent years watching what happens when you put a group of women in a room together and give them three days. She sees who arrives apologizing. She sees who takes up more room by day two. In this conversation we get into what actually happens inside that room, what it takes for a woman our age to walk into it, and what she manages to carry home.
In this episode, we talk about:
- Why loneliness is a mortality risk, not a mood problem, and what the WHO found last June
- The difference between a vacation and a retreat, and the red flags on a retreat sales page
- Why your retreat starts the day you say yes, and what a luggage tag has to do with belonging
- Decision fatigue disappearing, and the silent morning that makes people panic
- What women really mean when they say they don't have the time or the money
- The mini retreat: a hotel five miles from your house, and why it counts
- An 86-year-old who wants to drive a forklift
